Fresh off the back of hitting a century for Wellington A in their three-day game against Central Districts A in Napier this week, Jesse Tashkoff is included in the squad for Round 3 of the Plunket Shield against Northern Districts.

Tashkoff joins in the place of Muhammad Abbas, who will miss the clash due to a minor injury sustained in the leadup to last week’s game. Abbas was a late exclusion from the squad.

The Firebirds will welcome Northern Districts, the only other undefeated Plunket Shield side, to the Cello Basin Reserve this week in a top-of-the-table clash that could give a side some breathing room atop the Plunket Shield table.

After beating the Central Stags away inside three days, captain Nick Kelly is excited for another tough test at home.

“[Northern] are a tough side with a lot of experience, and obviously they’re coming off a couple of wins in a row”, said Kelly.

“The feeling in our camp is really strong at the moment, we’ve got a lot of belief in each other”, he continued.

“Obviously not ideal to be losing Mo for this game but our squad is strong and we’ve got great options in Robbo [Tim Robinson] and Jesse [Tashkoff]”.

The Cello Basin Reserve will play host to the Firebirds Round 3 clash this week, with play scheduled to begin at 10:30am each day from Monday 6 – Thursday 9 November.

Live streams and scoring will be available on NZC’s website.
