Wellington Blaze batter Maddy Green is moving back to Auckland for family reasons ahead of the 2023/24 summer. Cricket Wellington thanks Maddy for her commitment to the Blaze and the wider cricketing community and wish her all the best in her future playing career.

Maddy Green moved to Wellington from Auckland before the2019/20 season, spending four seasons in the capital. “It’s been a great opportunity to have played my cricket in Wellington over the last few years and be a part of a very successful Blaze side,” said Green. “I’d like to thank Cricket Wellington and the coaches I’ve worked with for the opportunity to be part of a fantastic group and further develop my career.”

Cricket Wellington recognizes Maddy Green’s significant impact on the team's success over the years. Over her time with the Blaze, Green was a key contributor with the bat and in the field for a team which had two historic win streaks in the Dream11 Super Smash, as well smacking a run-a-ball century in the Blaze’s win of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, their first in nearly 30 years.

“We’ve played some great cricket over my time here and I’m very thankful to my teammates and the Wellington fans for making it a truly special experience," Green said. “The Basin Reserve will always remain one of my favourite places to play cricket”.
