Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra will bolster the Firebirds top-order as the 13-strong squad travels to Hamilton for the Super Smash Elimination Final.
The match in Hamilton will be a rematch of Wellington Anniversary Day’s match where the Firebirds came up 18 runs short against Canterbury.
Following the conclusion of the BLACKCAPS T20i series against Pakistan, all four Wellington players who featured for the national side are included in the side, with Ben Sears and Adam Milne having returned in the last round.
Gareth Severin is included in the traveling squad after making his T20 debut in the last round-robin match, scoring a useful 41 from the opener’s spot.
It’s win or go home for a Firebirds side that has almost all players available for selection, although some key contributors are still missing.
Tim Robinson and Tom Blundell have been left out of the squad for this match as they continue building up from injuries that have kept them out of the last few rounds.
For Blundell, the test series next month against South Africa is a target as much as a possible Grand Final, as the first-choice test wicketkeeper for the BLACKCAPS makes his way back from a hamstring strain.
Round 10 of the Dream11 Super Smash for the Firebirds and Blaze will take place tomorrow as they face the Canterbury Kings and Magicians at the Cello Basin Reserve on Monday 22nd January 2023. The Spotlight Reporting Wellington Blaze are up first with a 12:30pm start before the Firebirds take the field for a 4pm first ball. The game will stream live on TVNZ+ and TVNZ Duke.
