Muhammad Abbas makes his return to the squad to face Canterbury after missing the first three games of the Ford Trophy campaign with a hand injury.

Having only celebrated his 20th birthday last week, Muhammad is proving himself as one to watch in the New Zealand domestic scene. In his 10 first-class games, he has a century and five half-tons to his name, along with a very healthy batting average of around 40.

In a corresponding move, Gareth Severin comes out of the squad for this Round 4 clash.

The Firebirds return home for the first time in their white ball summer, enjoying the confines of the Cello Basin Reserve for the only time before the Super Smash campaign kicks off in two weeks’ time.

The BLACKCAPS tour of Bangladesh leaves Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and Tom Blundell unavailable for the team as the second test match gets underway today.

Round 4 of the Ford Trophy will take place at the Cello Basin Reserve on December 7, 2023 as the Wellington Firebirds take on Canterbury from 10:30am. Live scoring and streaming will be available on the NZC website.
